Taking the flash off-camera for great ratio lighting is simple, once you’ve done it a few times. The thing about off-camera flash is that they are quite complicated if you stick to the manufacturer’s system. Sony is no exception. This is why so many professional photographers I know spend the money to buy a wireless radio system. All you do is connect the units, and the flash units are talking.
But if you don’t have the bucks to buy a radio, and you want to take your flash off-camera, here’s a button-by-button guide on how to do it with your Sony Alpha System.
I have never bothered trying to figure this out as the manual makes it too complex, so I have been using radio triggers on my A77 and 3 X HVL-F43AM flashes. Your video makes it incredibly simple and I just tried it and it is actually dead simple! Thank you! i will be using this more often (indoors) as my current Phottix Strato radio triggers are not TTL so everything has to be done manually 9which is a pain sometimes).
